What a first lesson looks like

The first lesson is mostly listening. The instructor finds out what the student already does, what they want to be able to do, and what has put them off in the past — and then agrees one thing to work on before the next one. Nobody is tested.

You get a short note afterwards saying what happened. That note is written for you, not for a file: what was practised, what moved, and what to expect next week.

If your child is served by a regional center

Drums instruction can often be funded through a regional center plan. You do not pay anything — there is no copay and no shared pay for funded services — and we deal with the agency directly. What you do is ask your service coordinator, and we can help you word that.
