About Notewell Academy
We arrange one-to-one music and academic instruction for young people across California, for families paying privately and for families whose services are funded by a regional center.
Why both, in one place
Most providers do one or the other. Private-pay studios do not want to deal with agency paperwork; agency providers rarely take walk-in families. Running both means a family whose funding takes three months to arrange can start now and switch later, without changing instructor and without explaining themselves twice.
It also keeps us honest about price. Because we publish what the general public pays, what we bill an agency is checkable against it — and never higher.
How instructors are checked
Every instructor holds a current background clearance before they meet a student. That is not a policy we ask people to remember — when a clearance lapses, the software removes that instructor from search, from matching and from booking the same day, and nobody has to notice first.
Profiles show a first name and a last initial by default. Adults teaching children in private homes have a reasonable interest in not being fully identifiable to strangers on the internet, and a parent gets everything they actually need before a lesson.
What we do not hold
We are not a clinical service and we do not keep clinical records. No diagnosis, no assessment, no plan document, no medication, no eligibility category — not in a field, not in a note, not as an upload. We hold what is needed to teach your child and to be paid for it.
The lesson notes an instructor writes are about instruction: what was practised, what improved, what to try next. That is what they are for and that is all they contain.
